While doing some additional research for my Pain Management Class, I found an article I think everyone would be interested in reading. The article is about the Benefits of Stretching. Most people know, I like to stretch, of course, I teach yoga...but I don't always tell students Why it is important to stretch. Many yoga students, myself included, have figured out the benefits of stretching just by doing classes. This article is a quick and easy read about why stretching is so good for you. Thank you everyone that came out on a cold April 26th, Saturday morning to participate in World Tai Chi & Qi Gong Day in Quincy at Dame Shirley Park. Those present had a great morning of Tai Chi and Qi Gong. We shared, collaborated, and became one as we breathed in & out in our Tai Chi stance.
Here is a message from the co-founders: Dear World Tai Chi & Qigong Day Supporters, If you would like to support our global health & healing efforts, you can, by purchasing one of our beautiful and meaningful Official WTCQD T-Shirts. NEW NIH Reported STUDY SHOWS OPTIMISM IN PARTNER KEY TO HEALTH: For 15 years WorldTaiChiDay.org has organized Tai Chi and Qigong teachers and groups worldwide to come together to expand their teaching of these mind-body arts. We have amassed breaking medical research to prove to all those sharing these tools just how important what they teach is. We have worked to empower Tai Chi and Qigong enthusiasts, so that you are convinced that you are a valuable resource in your community, and that together we can positively impact the world by educating millions worldwide of Tai Chi and Qigong's benefits offered to them. We make you feel big. Some in the Tai Chi and Qigong community will try to make you feel small, because they feel small. We know because we've suffered through many of them over the years through nasty belittling emails we get from time to time. HOWEVER, the overwhelming majority of the Tai Chi and Qigong family are open minded, open hearted visionaries who know how powerful these mind-body tools have been in improving their own lives ... and have a desire to share them. WE BELIEVE IN YOU. THAT IS WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO ALL YEAR, YEAR AFTER YEAR, AFTER YEAR. Tai Chi and Qigong teach us how to loosen our hearts and minds, to become more open to new possibilities and ideas. Neurological research is showing that meditative practices like Tai Chi actually increase brain size, and other research shows that meditation increases the empathy and compassion parts of the brain. In Earth's coming future as the planet gets more crowded and everything around us changes faster and faster, the ability to be loose and flexible in body and mind, and an increased sense of empathy and compassion will be profound assets. When you share Tai Chi and Qigong's mindful meditative practices with others, and when we all do it together all over the planet, we are playing a profound role in the unfolding future of our planet. We are in a time of great wonder and hope. WE are part of that wonder and hope unfolding across our precious planet. Join us to reap the benefits! Dear World Tai Chi & Qigong Day Supporters & Participants, This global wave of goodwill provides a vision of hope and healing to a world hungry for such visions. Each year to view the photos of people from different cultures, religions, and every corner of the earth . . . breathing together . . in this global Tai Chi & Qigong movement . . . is profound. When you look thru the photographs and videos you see that "look" on people's faces, a look that conveys a feeling that all of us who've experienced the well-being that Qi, or life energy, expands through our mind and body when we make the space to breathe . . . and to let, calm, and wellness expand thru us. When you see that look in all these diverse faces, from so many different lands, you can't help but deeply realize that we are indeed "one world . . . and, . . . one breath." We are all connected by the field of life energy that physicists are now discovering permeates all existence. By emersing ourselves in the field of life energy again and again, we become more and more grounded in the absolute reality that . . . we are all connected . . . all part of the web of life. And, by cultivating and growing the realization personally and globally, we may help in a subtle quiet way to usher in a more elegant future that nurtures us all in ways we cannot yet even imagine. Again, thank you for making this extraordinary event and health movement possible thru your organizing and participation each year.
